Sunny Border, Port Isaac

Planted last October this huge border has really started to flourish with this fantastic growing weather...

Lovely Astrantias punctuate the border...with Iris, Nepeta, Phlomis, Salvias, Euphorbias and many other plants suitable for a hot and sunny spot with well drained soil...

Westryngia looks fantastic in these planters and thrives
in this sunny hot spot under the new pergola which is starting to be clothed by lots of climbers, including this lovely clematis...

Just compare how the garden looked before the border was created....

Fab Spring Colour!

A little bit a sculpture enhanced by primroses and muscari.

The amazing blue of Veronica.

Sunny Coastal Courtyard

The clients in Tintagel had initially only a tiny sliver of a garden wrapping around their conservatory, surrounded by a fence.....

then they were able to acquire just a couple more metres in depth....the fence was removed first....

The new garden design includes a rendered wall to enclose the garden and create a walled courtyard.  The garden faces south and the space is very hot and sunny in the summer months.  In built seating helps to maximise the space, as well as raised beds running around the enclosing wall.

A built in water feature was discussed, but the clients preferred the idea of a self contained water feature that could be slotted into the raised bed, and moved around if necessary.
Lighting was set into the seating.
There is also room still for a good size table and chairs.

The stone detailing matches the detailing on the house, which is also rendered.

Palms and planting for hot conditions were chosen, as well as being low maintenance.

We've had lovely client feedback already....

'It's perfect, we are chuffed to bit as to how it's turned out, thank you so much for all your help.'

Country Garden, Tremore Valley

This large open garden tucked away in the Tremore Valley, south of Wadebridge, is a blank canvas on which the clients want to create a garden in keeping with the surroundings, something very green and natural.

The design below shows the curving line of a rock garden that will wrap around lawn close to the house, with a bog garden where the land is wettest.

Groupings of shrubs will curve around grassy areas, creating separate and private seating spaces.

Work to create the garden has started this month.
Large boulders, discovered on site, will create the gently curving rock garden....these have been laid out first....

...but this wet weather is making working conditions difficult!  Progress updates to follow...

Winter Blooms

There is so much garden interest even in winter, and my garden is full of winter blooms, from early quince buds and flowers, to winter jasmine below (Lonicera nitida)...

and white periwinkle (Vinca), which just shine out in a shady corner...

and of course the snowdrop.

Small Courtyard Garden, Tintagel

A new plan for a small courtyard in Tintagel.   The clients want to create a space that flows out from their garden room, with similar slate flooring. A new rendered and painted wall, to match the house, will enclose the courtyard.  Built in seating in the sunniest spot, raised beds, as well as making the boundary wall an integral part of the design will really maximise the limited space.

Fantastic Feedback for Bude Garden

We've had some fantastic feedback from the clients of the coastal garden at Bude...

"We just wanted to thank you for the lovely way you redesigned our garden, with a mixture of our ideas, your flare for design and in positioning things in just the right places, we have a garden that continually delights us.  The landscaper was an excellent one as his painstaking efforts have made a beautiful garden, one which will flourish for many years to come."

Bodmin Georgian Courtyard Garden

A design to create an elegant and low maintenance garden courtyard.

The space also creates a new entrance way to the main door of the house and is in keeping with the look and period of the house.

Great feedback from the clients - 'Thank you so much for the great design and your help so far.'

Large Border Planting, Port Isaac

This garden on the outskirts of Port Isaac was a complete blank canvas.  The client wanted to create a  very large curving border in the existing lawn, and keep the rest of the garden very natural.

Starting to plant.....the site is open and south facing which is hot and sunny in the warmer months.

Astrantias for cut flowers....

Sedums for late summer and autumn colour....

The beautiful blue flowers of small shrub Caryopteris....

The curving sweep of the border....

Looking forward to seeing the plants fill out and flourish next spring.
